Shaw / American Pottery Bambi looking up tentatively and to the right that is in great condition!<br>This is a large Evan K. Shaw / American Pottery Bambi that stands at 7 1/2” tall.  The posture of this wonderful Bambi distinctly conveys a feeling of being alarmed or tentative as he attempts to examine what he sees . . . perhaps a flying butterfly!  Since each ceramic piece was individually hand painted, each one displays unique features and expressions.<br>There are no chips, cracks, breaks, repairs or rough spots<br>on this piece and there is very little visible crazing.<br>There is no Shaw/American Pottery label attached.<br>This Large Bambi is in great<br>condition for being<br>70+ YEARS OLD!<br>American Pottery was founded by Evan K. Shaw who was a former Vernon Kilns employee.  During the period of 1943 through 1955, Evan K. Shaw created the largest ceramics outfit in the Los Angeles area under many different Company names and Disney Licenses including Metlox and The American Pottery Company.  Evan K. Shaw's American Pottery signed its first contract with Disney on February 4, 1943.  Shaw/American Pottery figures are known for their details, expressions and quality.  Shaw/American Pottery had their own Mold Makers.  The Disney Studios would provide model sheets to be followed for each design.  Once Shaw/American Pottery came up with a new concept, it would have to be approved by the Disney Studio artists and the Disney licensing division before any production could begin.<br>We found this Shaw/American Pottery Bambi in a garage storage container as we were going through the items that we have collected over the past 45 years!  If you collect DISNEYANA, or if you love EARLY DISNEY CERAMICS, then this EVAN K.
